A CA$130 Product, 3 Sales in 32 Days: What a 22-Section Amazon Audit Found

A sales decline is a signal, not a diagnosis. The same drop can require completely different actions depending on what changed underneath.

A CA$130 product. 4.6 stars. A growing category. 3 units sold in 32 days.

At first glance, it looked like a traffic problem. It wasn’t.

I recently completed a 22-section audit of an Amazon.ca listing that, based on the category and competitive benchmarks, should have been capable of doing 400+ units a month. It had a competitive price, a stronger-than-average rating, and one of the richest accessory bundles in the category. Yet almost nobody could find it.

Part 1: Could People Find It?

So the account had a visibility problem, but was still spending money.

Part 2: What Happened After the Click?

CTR was above the market average across all three variants. People who saw the listing were clicking. But conversion was 0% against a roughly 5% market benchmark for the same search terms. There was a second problem hiding after the click:

This wasn’t a product problem or a demand problem. It was an execution problem.

The Recommendation

Not “spend more on PPC.” Instead: stop the spend leaks → fix distribution → restore price consistency → repair trust and conversion → then re-measure before scaling. If conversion is broken, more traffic can simply buy more expensive failure.

The 22-Section Audit Framework

Every section follows: Data → Current State → Benchmark → Gap → Root Cause → Opportunity → Priority → Action → Expected Impact → KPI → Decision.

Sometimes the most valuable conclusion from an audit is not what you should do next. It’s what you should stop doing.
